Gwent Cat Protection
This lovely cat was found wandering in the
grounds of the Maes Manor Hotel, near
Blackwood on 6th July. It's very possible he a
rrived there over the fields from the Bargoed,
Aberbargoed, New Tredegar, Blackwood or
Cefn Fforest areas. He is a very friendly, pale
ginger & white male who has obviously come
from a home locally, but despite putting up
lots of posters and knocking many doors, I have been unable so far to trace his owner. If anyone does recognise him, the number to ring is 07890 431723.

The sudden closure of Alphasteel in Newport has created a huge problem for up around 80 feral cats living on the premises. They have acted as mousers
and rodent control for a number of years and
have been fed by many caring cat lovers at the
plant. Since the plant closed just before
Christmas, there are only a small number of
employees remaining on site who are doing
their very best to ensure that the cats are being
fed, but with so many cats, it is proving very
difficult for them.
Although a few of the cats are friendly, the
majority are feral and we are asking for
help with the relocation of these cats to outdoor
homes in stables, smallholdings,
farms, industrial premises etc, where they have
food, shelter and any necessary
veterinary treatment provided for them.
Gwent Cats Protection will have the cats vet
checked, blood tested, neutered,
wormed and flea-treated before re-homing.
We are also appealing for donations of food to help the employees have adequate
resources to feed so many cats in the interim.
If anyone can offer outdoor homes or donations of food, please ring
01633 895223.
Without our intervention, the long term future of these cats is very uncertain and I
would be grateful for any help you were able to give
with this unique situation.
