Hello,

My name is Steve Lindon and my wife's name is Louise. We both live in Pontllanfraith with our three children Josh, Tiffany and Joseph.

We started blackwoodlocal (a community website for Blackwood, Gwent) in 2006. We never thought that it would be the start of a newspaper and then a magazine.

We have had a lot of troubles though. We put off the launch of ther newspaper many times as we just did not have the finacial backing that we needed to get the project off the ground. Then when we finally thought we had, we were let down after the first week. We did not give in though. It was just too much of a great idea and we had caught the interest of many of the residents in the NP12 area.

During the time while the newspaper was out of print and before the magazine was printed, we had a lot of emails from residents, telephone calls from companies wishing to advertise with us, and general congratulations from anyone we spoke to.

A few months later, we decided that the magazine should be printed as soon as we had enough capital to have the magazine printed. We visited Pensord in Pontllanfraith, and within a few days we had decided on a date for the print, how many pages we would have, what gram paper we would be using and a lot of other things we had to consider.

We have been overwhelmed with the response this time from the magazine, we both thought that the Local Info would not be trusted again after the newspaper failed. If any thing the failiure of the newspaper was actually the making of the magazine.

We are not sorry that the newspaper did not work out, although it did cost us all our savings, but it made us realise that trying to produce a weekly newspaper was too much for two people with a young family. Now with the monthly magazine, we still find it hard work with a 9 year old, 6 year old and a 3 year old in tow, but at least this time we have the time and the backing of local businesses and residents.
